Karl
began his professional services career in 1974 with Moore, Inc.,
an international provider of communication, data and record keeping solutions for business and healthcare. Karl engineered and implemented customized products for data collection, transmission, recording and control of operational and financial activities; enabling clients to utilize analytics to improve operating model and supply chain performance. As a Manager, Karl was responsible for the recruitment, hiring, training and professional progression of a team of design and sales professionals. His leadership in sales and marketing resulted in New Business Achievement Club membership seven of eight years. |

At Senn-Delaney Retail Management Consultants and Arthur Andersen (SDMC
successor) from 1982-1993,
Karl integrated his knowledge of key business process and technology with SDA proprietary leadership, scheduling and performance management programs. Karl delivered measurable and sustainable improvements in productivity, cost and resource optimization for SDA retail clients. He managed cross-functional project teams in Credit, Collection, Finance, Supply Chain and Store Operations. As a certified SDA leadership facilitator, Karl conducted trainings in the US, Europe and South Africa. There he managed SDA’s first international office from 1983-1985. Senn-Delaney’s retail practice was acquired by Arthur Andersen in 1992. |

In
1993 Karl joined AH Riise a Caribbean duty free retailer, as Chief
Operating Officer, where he re-engineered and standardized
all aspects of the company supply chain and operating model; introducing best practices in merchandise acquisition, private label blending/production, merchandise presentation, supply chain operations, and service-selling. He directed the re-modeling of retail stores, distribution and fulfillment centers; implemented POS and re-organized the company to increase sales, reduce costs and improve profitability. Karl oversaw all retail and supply chain functions at five locations with a staff of over 100 in the merchandising, distribution and sale of luxury, cosmetic, jewelry and liquor products. |

As President and CEO of Tamarack International from 1995-1999,
Karl directed all areas of a medium sized private label manufacturer of medical, sports medicine and industrial orthopedic supports and braces for the retail industry. Utilizing proprietary and patented designs, materials and constructions, Tamarack produced world class preventative and treatment solutions, recognized for high quality, functionality and durability. Tamarack employed 120 individuals involved in cutting, sewing, assembling, QC, packaging and shipping of one million products annually. Karl re-designed production cells from batch and bundle to stand-up continuous flow, increasing output and quality, reducing cycle time and production costs. Managing product design team, Karl was responsible for delivering over 90 retail products based on 12 Tamarack patents for the ankle, knee, wrist, elbow, neck and back. Karl holds two patents for ankle and wrist supports. Karl negotiated raw material contracts for high tech performance fabrics and implemented stringent inventory integrity controls. He managed the sales team and represented Tamarack products worldwide with primary customers in Germany, Switzerland, Denmark and Italy. In 1998, Karl negotiated the sale and transfer of Tamarack to new ownership in 1999. |

From 1999-2008,with Kurt Salmon Associates (KSA),
Karl led performance improvement team initiatives to identify, sell
and deliver productivity, inventory integrity and sales improvement programs in merchandising, supply chain, and operations. Karl developed standardized solutions to optimize engineered processes and integrate information technology with a balanced labor and workload. Working with retail and consumer product groups, Karl became a valued resource to design, pilot and implement initiatives in ERP, POS, POG, and WMS with Labor Scheduling technology and SOX accounting practices. Karl was a spokesperson and SME on emerging issues in retail and consumer products including ADA, Shop-Ability, Merchandise Returns, Service-Selling, Holiday Shopping and Pop-Up-Stores. He was often interviewed by the national media and has over 120 references on the internet. As an expert witness Karl developed and defended today’s ADA merchandise accessibility standards used in hundreds of retail establishments. In eight years, Karl initiated and/or managed over $10 million in project revenues with over 25 major North American retailers. |
